music

I saw the end, it looks just like the middle / Got a paper and pen and a page with no space / I filled the hole in my head with prescription medication / And forgot how to cry, who am I / Who am I to complain?

mitski is probably one of my longest loved artists!!!! i was actually in the top 0.5% of her listeners in 2022! there's something about like. the richness in her voice that makes her sososo nice to listen to. she's also gorgeous and i love her and her music SOOO MUCH!!! the way she sings and does lyrics is so impressive and i love the videos she's done on her yt channel recently where she dissects her songs! i really love learning about artists' thought processes when they make music so that's super interesting.

my current favorite song of hers is love me more. go give it a listen!!

tv girl is tbh such a cool artist. i really really love when people add little snippets of like actual convos or people talking into songs and tv girl does that like A LOT which is soooo cool!!!! i like pretty much almost all of their songs except for any of the ones from grapes upon the vine. ngl that album is kind of not my fav :( but other than that i am literally obsessed with their sound and the way they make music. super cool lyrics as well most of the time! i wish i could play their songs on the guitar but they always have really annoyingly complicated melodies so it doesn't rly work which is a BUMMER tbh.

my current favorite song of theirs is natalie wood. go give it a listen!!

PEACH PIT!!!!! legit one of my fav bands of allll time. got introduced to them by my cousin shoutout to her!!! but i just recently got more into some of their less popular music. i love love love their sound and the way it has like a twinge of country to it. i also lovee the voice of the guy that sings and i love their lyrics. i also like that i can play their songs on the guitar because that's how most of them are played in the actual versions!!

my current favorite song of theirs is brian's movie. go give it a listen!!

so car seat headrest is legit one of the most like objectively Interesting (but not in a bad way) bands i listen to. like the way they manipulate instrumental sounds is so cool and really unique. they also have amazing lyrics! i'm kind of a sucker for lyrics that are super ambiguous but have a lot of like meaning to dig into. and csh has a bunch of lyrics like that and i LOVE that!! sometimes their songs are just too abstract for me but tbh that's fine in my book cause their music is kind of an acquired taste?? but now that i've gotten accustomed to their style it's def one of my favs!!!

my current favorite song of theirs is deadlines (hostile). go give it a listen!!

absolutely one of my favorite bands ever. they have a really unique sound thars super calming but so interesting to listen to at the same time. i think some of how mesemerizing their musif is comes from the drum machine and the simplicity of the amount of instruments in their songs. the fact that it's most of the time just drums, bass, and guitar makes everything they made so much more impressive!!! their lyricism is also incredible and they have some of the most amazing music videos literally ever. rest in peace her's

my current favorite song of theirs is under wraps. go give it a listen!!

i've always known about mac demarco and some of his more popular songs like my kind of woman buttt recently ive started listening to a lot more of his music and i'm SO GLAD becuase i actually love it SO MUCH!!! i've been falling asleep to it so mcuh and i love the way all of it sounds. also he seems like a genuinely really nice person and i love how he invites people up on stage during concerts to play or sing w him it's actually SO SWEET!! i recommend watching videos of it because seeing people's reactions is so cute omg....

my current favorite song of his is on the level. go give it a listen!!

other EXTREMELY honorable mentions (in no specific order)

noah kahan, the smiths, radiohead, depeche mode, lana del rey, arctic monkeys, taylor swift, beabadoobee, tame impala, faye webster, portishead, phoebe bridgers, steve lacy, sza, tyler the creator, and modern baseball are some other artists that i gave up on coding in but i love love LOVE with my whole heart. there are def also so many others that i forgot to add to the list, but that's the general idea of the music taste!

songs that r important to me!

sad stuff! i'll probably put more on like a personal blog or something about why this song is soimportant to me but i play it most of the time when i purge so it's a veryy personal song. i love car seat headrest SO MUCH! can also play this one on guitar!
one of my favorite songs ever. i don't actually know why.... i just rly like it LOL! it has survived since early 2022 ehich is crazy. the guitar and the singing and the lyrics are just soosoos good. i know how to play this one on guitar!
i used to listen to this one to fall asleep every single night for like probably 2 months straight in early-mid 2023. very possibly multiple times per night! one of my most calming down songs. sounds angelic tbh. i really like mazzy star!!
another one of my favorite songs ever. absolutely my favorite (or at least very up there) tv girl song!!! i lovelovelove when songs put in little clips of talking + i think it adds soo much to the song. i literally don't think i've watched a single things that stars natalie wood, but i still LOVE this song. used to think it was called "natalie would" when i listened on my alexa. really really love the lyrics and story. gotta love tv girl lyrics except when they are sexist!
the very first song i learned how to play on the guitar. i still know it actually! reaaally reminds me of 2021. i miss 2021 and also REALLY DO NOT MISS IT for different reasons. idk i'll prob talk abt that eventually. also just a generally very very good song even though it applies to literally nothing in my life rn. mitskis voice is absolutely insane in this one!

me and music

i've spent basically my whole life making, enjoying, and using music! i probably mentioned somehwere else on here that i've been dancing for a very long time. for like actual instruments, i've been playing guitar since the end of 2021 and piano from maybea little before i started dancing. i also play the uke but it's the easiest instrument actually ever so i'm not counting it. but music's been a really important part of my life, especially when u add in the fact that i enjoy singing! i'm like. pretty mediocre, but its really really fun so i still do it!

my family's also passed on a bunch of their music taste to me, especially my dad and my sister. i do get a little bit of country and just general oldies from my mom though (i will never stop thanking her for dolly parton and fleetwood mac!). shoutout to my dad for the most amazing 60s, 70s, and 80s rock and general cool music. depeche mode, daryl hall+john oats, cake, and so much more are allll him. my sister also gives me an insane amout of music literally by proximity so that's really cool too. love her! literally would never have heard of noah kahan without her.

soo that's kind of a recap of all of the musical stuff i do. when i get a little older i think i want to join a band. or like make music but i dont rly know yet!

covers (in progress!! come back soon stares at you)
